Planning a surprise party can be so much fun. After all, isn't that why we do it? Sometimes I wonder weather it's as much fun for the party honoree. But we love it.
Start it off right, by telling your guests right off the bat. The surprise party invitations should say that. How many of your guests will see and talk to the party honoree in the time between the invites and the party? You certainly don't want them accidentally leaking the secret. Then it's not a surprise anymore.
I've planned bunches of surprise parties. They don't need to be just birthdays, either. Although that's one of my favorites. But retirement parties, going away parties, congratulations parties, even bridal showers have been in my collection of surprise parties.
It took only one time for me to realize that I had to make the invitations clear. So I always use surprise party invitations that say so right up front. Of course that did lead to a funny situation for my husband's surprise party. A male guest kept trying to RSVP, but he hung up every time my husband answered. Yes, it was awkward, but all was forgiven when the party hit.
So get planning. And have some fun with your surprise party and the invitations you choose. Hopefully, your husband won't get a different suspicion!
